Terms of Use
Last updated: November 2, 2026
These Terms are an agreement between you and The Boy Aquarium (“we”, “us”), which runs boyaquarium.app (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
The short version: your aquarium is your own private journal. Everything you write or upload about anyone is your responsibility, not ours. Be kind, keep it private, and don’t post anything that could hurt someone.
1. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. You’re responsible for keeping your login safe and for everything that happens under your account.
2. Your content is your responsibility
“Your Content” means everything you add to the Service, including names, photos, zodiac signs, notes, ratings, screenshots, captions and feeding notes. You alone are responsible for Your Content and for any consequences of posting or sharing it. We don’t write, review, endorse or verify anything users post, and Your Content does not reflect our views. By adding content, you promise that:
- you have the right to post it, including any photos or screenshots, and posting it doesn’t violate anyone’s privacy, copyright or other rights, or any law;
- what you say about real people is your honest opinion or true to the best of your knowledge, and is not defamatory;
- you won’t use it to harass, threaten, stalk, shame or harm anyone.
3. Content that isn’t allowed
Don’t add, and don’t use the Service to share:
- nude, sexual or intimate images of anyone, or any sexual content involving a minor;
- anything about a person under 18;
- someone’s home address, phone number, workplace details meant to locate them, financial, health or government ID information, or passwords;
- threats, hate, harassment, or calls to target or contact someone;
- content you know is false and damaging to someone’s reputation;
- malware, spam, or anything illegal.
We may remove content, limit sharing, or suspend or close accounts that we believe break these rules or the law, with or without notice.
4. Sharing
You decide who can see your aquarium. When you approve someone, they can see everything in it and feed your fish. You’re responsible for who you share with. We can’t stop approved friends from taking screenshots or repeating what they see, and we’re not responsible if they do. If someone shares their aquarium with you, keep what you see private and treat it with the same care.
5. Permission to host your content
You keep ownership of Your Content. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, copy, process and display it only as needed to run the Service for you and the friends you share with. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups that expire on a normal schedule.
6. Reporting content
If you believe content on the Service is about you and breaks these Terms or the law, email hello@boyaquarium.app with enough detail for us to find it. We’ll review reports in good faith and may remove content, but we’re not obliged to monitor the Service or to take any particular action.
7. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless The Boy Aquarium and its owners, operators and service providers from and against any claims, demands, losses, damages, liabilities, settlements, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) Your Content, including any claim by a person you write about or depict; (b) your use of the Service or your sharing of an aquarium; (c) your breach of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any law or anyone else’s rights. We may take control of the defence of any such claim at your expense, and you’ll cooperate with us.
8. No warranties
The Service is a just-for-fun tool provided “as is” and “as available.” We don’t promise it will always be available, error-free or secure, or that content will never be lost, so keep your own copies of anything important. Nothing in the Service is dating, relationship, safety or legal advice. Ratings, zodiac signs and stinky fish are for fun. Use your own judgment and stay safe when meeting people.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, The Boy Aquarium and its owners and operators won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, reputation, relationships or profits, arising from your use of the Service or from any content posted by you or anyone else. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $50. Some places don’t allow certain limits, so some of these may not apply to you.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, or stop offering the Service, and we’ll try to give reasonable notice where we can. Sections 2, 5 (for backups), 7, 8, 9 and 11 continue after your account ends.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of [PROVINCE] and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of that province, unless your local consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we’ll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after that, you accept the new Terms.
